React: Is Jay-Z's comeback a good idea?

Flavor Flav reality show sets VH1 record
Hip-hop is proving to be a successful investment for cable networks. The finale for Flavor Flav's "Flavor of Love 2" was the most-watched show in VH1 history. Almost 7.5 million viewers watched the Public Enemy MC choose "Deelishis." In fact, "Flavor of Love 2" was the top-rated non-sports show on basic cable for 2006 in a key demographic, drawing a 4.6 rating among adults 18-49. The finale for the first season of "Flavor of Love" previously held the VH1 record, attracting 5.88 million viewers in March. When his romance with that season's winner, "Hoopz" Nikki Alexander, didn't work out, VH1 jumped at the chance for a sequel. Flav has been a staple on VH1 reality shows for years, first on an edition of the "Surreal Life," which led to "Strange Love" with Brigitte Nielsen, and then "Flavor of Love." Earlier this year, Sticky Fingaz' "Blade" debuted with record numbers for the Spike network. However, the viewers didn't stick around and that series was canceled earlier this month. Looks like "Flavor of Love" is in no danger of that. Unless, of course, he and Deelishis actually work out and get married, but in that case VH1 could always whip up "Strange Love 2" or "My Fair Flavor." VH1 already has a spinoff, "Flavorette," in the works in which Tiffany "New York" Patterson, the two-time finalist that wasn't picked either season, will choose from a group of men. No doubt Flav will make a cameo.
