Police: Proof shot first
Police announced Wednesday that D12's Proof fired the first shot in a shootout that ended with his death and another victim in critical condition. Proof's bullet hit Keith Bender, 35, in the head early Tuesday at the CCC nightclub on Eight Mile Road in Detroit. Proof also was shot in the head and died at a nearby outpatient treatment center after being transported there by a private car instead of an ambulance. Police said Bender also was taken to the hospital by car. After responding to 911 calls at 4:30 a.m., police arrived at an empty club. A spokesman said that police still were trying to determine why Proof was there and who shot him. Proof, whose real name was Deshaun Holton, was 32, a founding member of D12 and served as the best man in Eminem's January wedding. Latest news...
