Diddy's fireworks plans extinguished
It may be one of the Hamptons' hotter invites, but Diddy's Labor Day party won't light up the night quite as much as he envisioned. East Hampton town officials have turned down the hip-hop mogul's plans for a $100,000 fireworks show over East Hampton's Northwest Harbor on Sept. 2, out of concern that the spectacle could draw boaters to a risky, rocky area. Town Supervisor William McGintee said Diddy's extravaganza also might have conflicted with another fireworks show planned nearby that night. Diddy, who also resonds to Sean Combs, Puffy, Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, had planned all-white pyrotechnics to match the event's dress code, said Fireworks by Grucci Vice President Phil Butler. The town did give Diddy a permit for his "white party," a sought-after stop on the summer social scene since the late 1990s. Representatives for Diddy didn't immediately return phone messages left at their offices early Wednesday.
