Mary J. Blige among surprises on 'American Idol'
Mary J. Blige was among the surprise guest stars on the "American Idol" finale Wednesday night, singing a duet of her cover of U2's "One," with third-place finisher Elliott Yamin filling the role that U2's Bono played at this year's Grammy Awards and on her latest album, The Breakthrough. Taylor Hicks beat Katharine McPhee to win the fifth season of the Fox reality series, but the star-studded lineup stole the show. Toni Braxton, Al Jarreau, Dionne Warwick, Live and Meat Loaf were among the other acts who shared the stage with the "Idol" finalists, but one star stood alone -- Prince (well, besides the two scantily clad dancers/backup singers). A show that used to be denied use of some artists' songs now has labels begging for the show to include their music or revive their career. Artists that performed earlier in the season, including Wyclef Jean with Shakira, have seen a marked bump in sales the next week. With more than 65 million votes and record television ratings expected, plan on seeing more of your favorites next season on "American Idol." Latest news...
