T.I. assistant killed in shootout
An altercation inside a Cincinnati-area nightclub hosting an after-hours party for T.I. and Yung Joc escalated after the dispute moved outside, leaving one man dead and three others wounded. The shootout closed some lanes of Interstate 75 in Roselawn, Ohio, for the morning rush hour. A van believed to belong to T.I. was found on I-75.
The man pronounced dead at University Hospital was named Philant Johnson, T.I.'s personal assistant, according to a spokesman for T.I.'s Grand Hustle record label who spoke to the Associated Press. T.I.'s nationwide tour started April 21 and he was scheduled to appear in St. Louis on Wednesday. His latest CD, King, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 500,000 copies in its first week. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, police and neighbors have tried to get the club where the incident took place shut down in recent years. However, the Cincinnati city council rejected efforts to close Club Ritz despite previous incidents of shooting injuries. Latest news...
