Busta Rhymes turns himself in, arrested in
Busta Rhymes turned himself in Wednesday night and was charged with a misdemeanor assault in connection with an alleged attack on one of his drivers that came to his office looking to collect payment. One of Busta's lawyers, Robert Kalina, vouched for his client, noting that the alleged victim had a red mark on his face and no other visible or noticeable injuries. "I can tell you, judge, my client is innocent, and I rarely say this in a courtroom," Kalina told the court. Judge Neil Ross set bail at $3,500, which Busta paid and then secretly left in a Correction Department bus. Busta is next due in court on Feb. 20 for this third-degree assault charge. Lt. John Grimpel told the Associated Press that a man told police Busta had kicked and punched him repeatedly after the driver came to his office at 7 p.m. on Dec. 26 to collect money he was owed by the MC. The New York Post reported the man's name was Eddie Hatchett.
